About Us
SOL is a unique coalition of labor, community and faith-based groups. We are dedicated to bettering the lives of everyone through organizing immigrant-working families. In 2006, we were founded by two of the state's fastest growing and most dynamic labor unions.
The Service Employees International Union (SEIU), in California is comprised of 600,000 members, including, janitors, security offices, home health workers, nursing home and hospital workers, as well as public service workers. UNITE-HERE in California is comprised 100,000 members including hotel, restaurant and entertainment workers, laundry and garment workers.
In recent years, the two union's high-profile campaigns have lifted tens of thousands of immigrant and non-immigrant workers out of poverty, dramatically raising their wages, winning all important family health coverage. Read more about how the unions are making life better for working families.
